Special Concert in Yoakum, Texas on May 16, 2009

CYNTHIA CLAWSON will be doing a very special concert in Yoakum, Texas on May 16, 2009.

She will be returning to a childhood home where she was inspired and encouraged as a young girl.  A lot of family friends and college class mates will be there at the Austin Street Baptist Church to celebrate with her her new CD called, “Episodes.”  Episodes is a gathering together of songs that reveal different happenings that shaped her life and faith.  The recording is a look back to her roots and the influences that shaped her faith and her journey.  There is a strong impression of her love of her home and the values that she was taught in an open country with a people whose arms were as open and accepting as the wide farm lands. 

The recordings tell stories of events and people that crossed her path that filled her with a need to share the stories of these struggles. The title song for the recording is “Episodes” a re recorded song by her of the prolific song writer George Gagliardi that tells of the seminal moment in history when “they killed the young man from Nazareth town.”

“Episodes” has a free, unstructured feel and it was produced by Cynthia’s son, Will Courtney.

He wanted to use a hard, rough sounding piano to capture his mother’s oft shared memories of playing her mother’s old upright in the church’s parsonage.  There are poignant feelings and happy celebrations in this unique CD.
